Early day… caught a 654 train (woke up about 530am) to Florence. Wasn’t particularly excited only because Florence is always at least 10 degrees hotter than CF and its crowed. After arriving right before 8 and grabbing coffee we all met at the Duomo Baptistery doors for Taryans presentation. After this we had about an hour of free time in the less crowed, cooler atmosphere before meeting up again. Kayla, Hayden and I decide to head for the indoor market we had passed on the way form the train station. It was huge, its completely in door, with everything and kind of Italian meat, cheese pasta, fruit you might want (wine too). I ended up buying a wide range of dried fruit (kiwi, bananas, strawberries, passion fruit, and mango..etc) they were wonderful! We then followed Hayden (he can find anyplace) to Santa Croce to meet the group. Here we wandered, learned and drew till about 11. I then went with a small group to another little church across the river to see two more paintings we had talked about in class. Then we began the long search for a cheap yet filling lunch, after about an hour, we decide on street side panni’s (never let boys lead, ha) and ate on the steps of the Uffizi. Did I mention the heat by this time was slowing draining us all! Yuck – then the search for water fossets began- ugh!! But finally we found a Stanza were I purchase I huge bottle of water and my favorite Italian cookies! Umm! Then we trekked back to the Uffizi and spent the rest of the afternoon (until 4) looking and drawing. ☺ Around 4 the few of us left in the museum made a mad dash through the market and to the train station to catch a 507 train. Well much to our surprise the train was late…very late. Oh and it was Hot and when I say hot I cant even explain to you how hott… lets just say it was a very long hour home and my hand is very tired from fanning myself that entire time. On a positive note dinner tonight was my two favorite things…olive oil pasta and the chocolate salami for desert!!! Yippee. I was one happy girl, im now sitting in the courtyard with Lindsay, typing away and listening to the adults chatter away… haha, love what wine and a hot day will do to the adults. Im now probably going to watch a movie…there is potential for a late night hide and seek game (we have the school to ourselves)….so we’ll to see…
Ciao
